Her most well-known role is Lieutenant Sheba from the Battlestar Galactica TV series from 1978 to 1979. She is a daughter of actor June Lockhart. Her grandfather was an actor Gene Lockhart. Lockhart's career started at a very young age. For T is for Tumbleweed, the first role for Lockhart in a film came when she was just four years old. The short film on the subject was nominated for the Oscar Awards. The mother and daughter sat down for many hours together while filming, gaining knowledge about the field. Lockhart also appeared in a few seasons of Lassie. Dora in Jory was her first movie in 1972. She played the daughter of Joan Crawford as a character in The Sixth Sense, a show on television in 1972. Joan appeared for the final time on the show. There is widespread belief that Anne did not want to play Laurie Strode for John Carpenter's 1978 film, Halloween. Jaime Lee Curtis was cast in its place. Carpenter claims that they were interested in her however she decided to decline. Anne cannot recall John Carpenter having contacted her nor offering the role. There is a chance that one of Anne's agents turned down the offer on her account without telling her. The initial decision was by Glen Larson who sent her a very preliminary script for a role in the 1978 television series Battlestar Galactica. The character was not strong enough to convince her to take on the role. Then Glen created a brand new character exclusively for her featuring an even stronger character called Sheba. After she read the first 25 pages of the story The Living Legend she accepted instantly. The film ran for one season. She co-starred in Joyride along with Desi Arnaz Jr., Melanie Griffith (the daughter of Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucille Bell), Robert Carradine and Melanie Griffith in 1977 and in The Dark Tower with Michael Moriarty (1987).
